East Riding College Principal Appointed to HEY LEP Sub Board

Principal of East Riding College Mike Welsh has been named a sub-board member of the Hull and East Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership (HEY LEP).  The HEY LEP recently announced the appointment following a successful recruitment campaign where the LEP was overwhelmed by both the number and quality of applications received from individuals representing many different sectors.  Sub-Board members are set to steer the economic direction of our region and have been appointed by the Hull and East Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership to contribute to its Growth and Wellbeing Strategy.

Mental health and inclusivity mural installed at College

East Riding College unveiled a new mural on its Bridlington campus recently, themed around mental health. The idea for the installation started life as a graffiti wall, designed to help students reflect on the pandemic and its impact on mental health. As the project progressed, Enrichment Officer Jodie Kempson collaborated with students, who wanted to make the wall and its surrounding area into a space to spend time and reflect.

Students honoured at first virtual awards

East Riding College’s annual awards ceremony has gone virtual in 2021, because of the restrictions on public events. Filmed and broadcast as a You Tube Premiere on 1 July, the awards saw 37 recipients recognised for their achievements, dedication and hard work. Naturally the awards recognised the students’ achievements in spite of the disruption caused by the pandemic, and honoured their determination to succeed.
